FoIB Holly R tips us to this rather disheartening item:
"The Department of Veterans Affairs has failed to provide key information ... that shows the agencys ability to quickly provide service-related benefits has virtually collapsed ... delays newly returning veterans face before receiving disability compensation and other benefits are far longer than the agency has publicly acknowledged"
We've discussed the term shanda before; this certainly qualifies, as well.
Something to ponder here is that the VA is a de facto nationalized health care scheme. If the current regime can't provide services to a relatively small subset of the total population (ie veterans), what hope do we have that expanding the idea via The ObamaTax will work out any better?
