Educational technology is now very much evolving. With the rapid development of technology to make the learning process more quickly and effectively. We still remember to get a reading of books is very difficult, especially in remote areas. They can only rely on their teachers as the sole source of the material. In contrast to the present, the development of technology has brought many changes to the world of education. Call it a very important role technology is internet service. Just typing words that relate to the information that we want to look for in a web search engine, then the sooner we will get that information. 

Here are some definitions of educational technology : 

1. a systematic way of designing, implementing, and evaluating the whole process of teaching and learning in the form of specific learning objectives, based on research in learning theory and communication in humans and using a combination of learning resources from human and non-human to make learning more effective. Thus, since the 1970s, there has been the view that humans (in this case the teacher) is not the only source of learning. 
2. According to Tom Cutchall (1999) is an education technology research and application of behavioral science and learning theory using a systems approach to perform analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation and management of the use of technology to help solve the problem of learning and performance. The ultimate goal is the utilization of technology to help solve the problem of learning and human performance.
3. Educational technology is a field in facilitating human learning through the identification, development, and utilization of systematically organizing. Learning resources and through the entire process of managing all of it. Formal objects according to this definition is how to facilitate learning. 
4. Educational technology is a complex process that includes an integrated, procedures, ideas, tools and organization to analyze problems and design, implement, assess and manage the problem solving in all aspects of human learning. Formal object of educational technology is to solve the problem of human learning.Ddone by way of analyzing problems first, and then implement, assess and manage the problem solving. 

5.      Latest definition, educational technology is the study and ethical practice in facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using or utilize, and manage the processes and the sources of appropriate technology. 

Obviously, the ultimate goal is still to facilitate learning ( to be effective, efficient and attractive ) and improve performance. 

Based on the above definitions can be concluded that : 

Ø      Educational technology is a discipline / field ( field of study )

Ø      The term learning technology is used interchangeably with the term educational technology.

Ø      The main purpose of learning technologies is o to learn to solve problems or facilitating learning, and o to improve performance ; 

Ø      In realizing the system approach ( approach holistic / comprehensive, not partial approach ) ; 

Ø      Educational technology area may include activities related to the analysis, design, development, utilization, management, implementation and evaluation processes as well as learning resources. 

Ø      Technological learning is not only engaged in schooling but also in all human activities ( such as businesses, families, community organizations, etc. ) related to efforts to suss out the extent of learning and performance improvement issues. 

Ø      What is meant by technology here is technology in the broadest sense, not just the physical technology ( hardtech ), but also soft technology ( softtech ).
