Education for Society

In modern, literature, industrial society is in existence. In this society both the knowledge and aspirations are very much necessary. People’s knowledge and needs has soured up high. As the day pass, civilization grew. As the civilization grew, a society or communality was unable to gain educational purposes only through shared experience, without a formal education. Today, there has been an explosion of knowledge, which in result has increasingly specialized in functions of schools and curricular form. Thus educational institutions like school have taken the responsibilities to provide an environment where they can get the understandings of their societal needs and other resources they might need to satisfy them through such type of formal education.
For social development, education is the key institutions. In order to change the society’s wrong perceptions and attitudes education is the most important tool. For example, in the past years in most of the Asian countries there was a system of Dowry system. Wife at the time of weddings should be gifted a huge amount of property when leaving her home by her father. But, with the light of education in most of the societies the system of “Dowry” has been slowly reduced or removed.
School is viewed as the chief means or tools for building new social systems and orders by the deconstructionists. Education is for reconstruction purpose of the society. It can destruct wrong things and can improve right things in the society. According to Horace, “The common schools are the greatest discovery ever made by man. Other social organizations are curative and remedial. This is preventive and an antidote”. Americans have viewed education as a tool for their political safety. They see deluge outside this word called “education”. Due to this, the literacy rates in almost all developed countries are high. They see education as a tool for their development.
Hence, we can say that education plays an important role in social development and prosperity.
